How do I get a permit?
If getting a Driver Education Learner Permit, you must first be enrolled in the full course (30 hours of classroom and 6 hours of behind the wheel lessons. Once enrolled you will need a Certificate of Driver Education Form (CDE Form). You may obtain this at our office or it can be emailed.
When can I get a permit?
Students can get a permit at 15 years old if they have registered for a state approved 30-hour course and 6 hours of driving instruction.
How long do I have to complete the course?
Students will have 6 months from date of sign up to complete the online course and 15 months from date of sign up to complete the behind the wheel lessons.
Does the student have to take a test to get their permit?
Yes, all individuals wishing to obtain a permit must take a 50 questions multiple choice test. This test is NOT retaken when getting a license.
When can the parent start driving with their child?
You may begin driving with your child as soon as they have a permit.
When can I take the driving skills test?
Students are eligible to take the Skills Drive Test when they have successfully completed the classroom portion and driving portion with a B grade or higher.
When can the student obtain their license?
Any student who completes the FULL course and completes the log of supervised driving practice may get their license at 16 and 90 days. However, they must have also held their permit for 180 days. Both requirements must be met to obtain a license.
Can I do more than one drive in a day?
BMV regulations only allow students to complete one drive in a calendar day.
What vehicle is used to complete the drives?
All drives will be completed using our vehicles. Our vehicles are fully insured and have a dual control brake system.
Do the Road Skills instructors have to complete a background check?
In order to be licensed in Indiana, all instructors must have completed at least 60 college credit hours, complete a 9-college credit hour course, and every two years pass both a physical and a fingerprint-based background check.
